NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT

The School of Social Sciences and Humanities of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad will be organising a one-day national conference on ‘Security and Development’. This conference will be held at the NUST main campus and tentatively scheduled for October 4, 2021. The detailed concept note, comprising of the background, theme of the conference and proposed topics, is attached separately under the title ‘Concept Note’. Interested researcher/scholars are invited to attend the conference as attendees or contributors of papers in the proposed thematic areas. The themes and timeline for the submission of the paper is as follows:

Themes:

  1. Military and Security Development
  2. Economic Development and National Security
  3. Domestic Politics and Security
  4. Societal Security
  5. Environment and security
  6. Human Security and Development
  7. Media and Security
  8. Energy and security
  9. Food security
  10. Police reforms vital for Security

Timeline:

  • Abstract Submission: 31 March 2021
  • Acceptance/rejection notification: 30 April 2021
  • Paper submission: 30 June 2021
  • Papers peer review: July-August
  • Papers submission to the special NJSSH journal publication: September 2021
  • Registration: May-September 2021 (note: registration page will be available in start of May)
  • Conference: 4 October 2021 (Tentatively)

The organisers of the said conference are Dr Farah Naz, Assistant Professor, Department of Government and Public Policy and Dr Muhammad Ammad Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Development Studies. They are the departmental coordinator/representatives who will facilitate the ‘lead person’ of this conference.
