Department of Economics when it produced it’s second PhD scholar, Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad-
Imtiaz Ahmad is the second PhD graduate of Department of Economics, S3H NUST, supervised by Dr. Zafar Mahmood. In his thesis titled “Firm Heterogeneity and Trade Margins under Uncertainty” he analyzed the impact of trade policy uncertainty on firm level outcomes. While perusing his doctorate he presented his work at international conferences and published papers in reputable journals. His thesis was evaluated by Dr. Hashmat Khan, chair department of economics Carlton University and co-director Centre for Monetary and Financial Economics.
Imtiaz says his PhD opened doors for him as the skills and knowledge he acquired in the PhD Economics program are respected and valued.
“I am very lucky to work with a supervisor who genuinely loves research and discovery,” explained Imtiaz. “I feel that with Dr. Zafar’s support and passion for research, I have been able to progress rapidly in my work. I always had the support I needed when troubleshooting or validating my research ideas.”
At Tariff Policy Center, National Tariff Commission, Imtiaz building further upon his research on Pakistan’s trade policy and firm level outcomes and providing research support to the ministry of commerce.
