Dr. Huda Javaid

Assistant Professor
Summary

I earned my MPhil in Environmental Science and Policy from the Lahore School of Economics and completed my doctoral research in Human Geography at the South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, as a DAAD scholar. My doctoral work, grounded in political ecology and based on eight years of multi-sited ethnographic research, examined socio-ecological change in peri-urban villages of Lahore. It highlighted how land commodification under neoliberal development policies transformed a relatively stable agrarian landscape and produced ecological, social, and historical losses that monetary compensation cannot replace. At NUST, I aim to critically explore state–society–environment relationships through both teaching and research.
